CAEP

The Classroom Aquarium Education Project (CAEP) offers the concept of learning by experience at its finest—giving both educators and students the opportunity to learn about the importance of aquatic wildlife and the role of state fish hatcheries. Volunteers serve in critically important roles during the process. Volunteers help educators and students as they take the first steps to collect fish eggs and then see the process through until those eggs hatch. Typically, volunteers lead a fieldtrip to a nearby stream as part of the CAEP experience. Aquatic education should not be limited to simply providing students with information from a textbook. Though, reading about fish can be fascinating, the experience of watching the actual process of trout eggs developing into to fry (young fish) is a memorable experience for students of all ages.
